Similarities - Matthew 24 & 1 Corinthians 11
Similarities: Matthew 24 & 1 Corinthians 11
There are similarities between Matthew 24 and 1 Corinthians 11.
The same Greek words that are used in both passages will be CAPITALIZED.
Matthew 24:37: "For just-as the days (of) Noah (were), so will-be the coming (of) the Son (of) Man."
Matthew 24:38: "For as in those days before the flood they-were eating and DRINKING, marrying and giving-in-marriage, until which day Noah entered into the ark,"
A similar account in Luke reads:
Luke 17:26: "“And as it-happened in the days (of) Noah, so it-will-be also in the days (of) the Son (of) Man —"
Luke 17:27: "THEY-WERE-EATING, DRINKING, marrying, being-given-in-marriage, until which day Noah entered into the ark and the flood came and destroyed everyone."
1 Corinthians 11:21: "For at the eating, each (one) is-taking (his) own dinner before (others). And one is-hungry, and another is-drunk."
1 Corinthians 11:22: "You-do not indeed fail to-have houses for EATING and DRINKING, (do you)? Or are-you-treating-with-contempt the church (of) God, and putting-to-shame the (ones) not having? What should-I-say (to) you? Shall-I-praise you? In this I-do not praise."
Matthew 24:48: "But if that bad slave says in his heart, ‘My lord is-delaying’,"
Matthew 24:49: "and begins to-strike his fellow-slaves, and is-eating and drinking with the (ones) BEING-DRUNK —"
Matthew 24:50: "the lord (of) that slave will-come on (a) day which he-does not expect, and at (an) hour which he-does not know."
1 Corinthians 11:21: "For at the eating, each (one) is-taking (his) own dinner before (others). And one is-hungry, and another IS-DRUNK."
The Greek word for "IS-DRUNK" [methuó 3184 in Greek, verb] used in 1 Corinthians 5:11 is only used 1 time in Matthew, Mark & Luke combined: only in Matthew 24:49.
Matthew 24:50: "the LORD (of) that slave will-come on (a) day WHICH he-does not expect, and at (an) hour which he-does not know."
1 Corinthians 11:26: "For as-often-as you-eat this bread and drink the cup, you-are-proclaiming the death (of) the LORD, until WHICH (day) He-comes."
1 Corinthians 11:29: "For the (one) EATING and DRINKING (while) not rightly-judging the body is-EATING and DRINKING judgment (on) himself."
Matthew 24:29: "“And immediately with the affliction (of) those days, the sun will-be-darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will-fall from the heaven, and the powers (of) the heavens will be shaken."
The parallel account in Luke reads:
Luke 21:25: "“And there-will-be signs (in) the sun and moon and stars, and on earth (the) anguish (of) nations in perplexity (about the) roar (of the) sea and (wave) tossing —"
Luke 21:26: "people fainting from fear and (the) expectation (of) the (things) coming-upon the world. For the powers (of) the heavens will-be-shaken."
1 Corinthians 11:32: "But (while) being-judged, we-are-being-disciplined by the Lord in-order-that we-may not be-condemned with the world."
The Greek words used for "BE-CONDEMNED with THE WORLD" (1 Corinthians 11:32) are used in Hebrews 11:7, referring to NOAH whom Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24:38: "(By) faith NOAH, having-been-warned about the (things) not-yet being-seen, having-been-reverent, prepared (the) ark for (the) salvation (of) his household, through which HE-CONDEMNED THE WORLD".
