1st century imminence in the Bible of the revelation of Jesus?
The same Greek words that are used in the various passages will be CAPITALIZED.
The mentions of the REVELATION of Jesus in several biblical passages could have been apprehended as imminent in the 1st century. The nature of the diverse mentions of the "REVELATION" of Jesus in the following passages will not be addressed here.
The Greek word for "REVELATION" [apokalupsis 602 in Greek] comes from the Greek word for "IS-REVEALED" [apokaluptó 601 in Greek].
Jesus said: "It-will-be the same (way) on that day the Son (of) Man IS-REVEALED [apokalüptetai 601 in Greek]" (Luke 17:30). Jesus then said 1 verse later in Luke 17:31: "On that day, let (he) who will-be on the housetop and his goods in the house not go-down to-take them. And let the (one) in (a) field likewise not turn-back to the (things) behind". This verse in Luke 17:31 is similar to Matthew 24:17-18 which reads: "Let the (one) upon the housetop not go-down to-take the (things) out-of his house. And let the (one) in the field not turn behind to-take his cloak". Jesus then addressed in Matthew 24:33-34 His 1st century disciples by saying: "So also YOU — when YOU-see all these (things), you know that it-is near, at (the) doors. Truly I-say (to) YOU that this generation by-no-means will-pass-away until all these (things) take-place" (Matthew 24:33-34).
For example, it is written in 2 Thessalonians that the epistle was written "(to) the church (of the) Thessalonians" (2 Thessalonians 1:1) in the 1st century, and to them it was written that "(it will be a) righteous (thing) with God to-repay affliction (to) the (ones) afflicting you and (to give) YOU, the (ones) being-afflicted, rest along with us AT the REVELATION [apokalüpsei 602 in Greek] (of) the Lord Jesus from heaven with angels (of) His power" (2 Thessalonians 1:6-7).
Another example: it is written in 1 Peter that the epistle was written to "(to the) chosen pilgrims (of the) dispersion (of) Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bythinian" (1 Peter 1:1) in the 1st century, and to them it was written that "the genuineness (of) YOUR faith — (being) more-valuable (than) gold ((which is) perishing), though being-tested by fire — may-be-found (resulting) in praise and glory and honor AT (the) REVELATION [apokalüpsei 602 in Greek] (of) Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:7).
Another example: it is written in Revelation in the 1st century about "(The) REVELATION [Apokalüpsis 602 in Greek] (of) Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to-show His slaves (the things) which must take-place in quickness" (Revelation 1:1).
